Wells Fargo Survey Shows Retirement Worries for Mass Affluent
In a new Wells Fargo Survey, of Americans with investable assets of $100,000 and up (the so-called “mass affluent”), 23% said they are not confident they will have saved enough for retirement. 12% of those surveyed said they expected to work until 80, in order to cover expenses that their retirement savings couldn’t fund.
40% said their biggest fear over retirement was they would do “all the right things today and it still won’t be enough for tomorrow.” 21% of those surveyed between the ages of 60 and 75 said they didn’t know when they would be able to retire. The study also finds that those with 5-10 years to go before retirement feel more pressure to catch up following the hits that their nest eggs took after the 2008 crash.
